“ This spot is a neighborhood fave of mine. It never disappoints. The workers are friendly and it has a cute, cozy vibe. The owners are Turkish, so they have some Turkish specialties on the menu. I really like the beyti and the sultan. If you have a sweet tooth you need to get the kunefe. It's a cheese filled pastry dipped in syrup and topped with pistachios, so good. ”
“ I've been on this particular block on Polk so many times solely because Bob's is right next door and I've never noticed this establishment. I wanted bottomless mimosas so bad this past Saturday. All of the other places I wanted to go to either were too busy or their brunch was about to end. I googled bottomless mimosas near me and this popped up. Once we arrived I was instantly impressed with their aesthetic. It was dark, but not too dark. The music was good. The waiters were friendly. The food was delicious! The drinks were perfect and did what needed to be done and the fact that they were only $25 per person for bottomless mimosas made our experience even more enjoyable. 10's across the board! ”
“ This place was very good for the second time. Well cooked dishes, amazing servers and cooks. ”
“ This is the perfect spot for a cozy and romantic date night before a show at the Masonic. We shared the mixed grill plate and it was more than enough meat for two people -- would highly recommend this plate, as you can try four different types of meat, including the keftedes, adana, lamb, and chicken. It only comes with a single serving of rice though, so if splitting between two you may want to order an additional side. My personal favorite meat was the lamb brochette, though everything was seasoned well and tasted great. The real star of the meal, however, was the warm grape leaves appetizer, with rice and tzatziki sauce that packed a ton of flavor. Don't forget to squeeze the lemon on top! We ordered the melitzano puree as well (it comes with pita bread), but it was a bit bland and not as puréed as we expected (it wasn't the consistency of a dip). We'll skip this one next time and replace it with an order of that delicious tzatziki sauce! Excellent selection of wine, but be prepared that there's no beer or cocktails. The staff was extremely attentive and very kind -- they went out of their way to check in and brought us the food in time for our comedy show. A quick 10 minute walk after dinner (be prepared, it's uphill) and we were at the steps of the Masonic. This is definitely a restaurant to try if you're looking for something hearty yet romantic. We had no problem getting a table for two as a walk-in, and will definitely be back soon. ”
“ My awesome friend made a reservation here before we headed off to a comedy show. I'm glad he did because the place is small and got packed quick. Inside was clean and great place for friends to get together or a date. The service was great. The food was so good. The platter had a bit of all the appetizers. The pita that comes with it are like Doritos size chips. If you finish, they bring you more. I thought that was great because sometimes the pita bread is gone when you still have hummus and other dips leftover. I got the moussaka and it was probably one of the best I ever had! I'm not sure what type of cheese was on top but it was at least an inch thick. It was toasted/baked on top just right. The eggplant and sliced potato was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The tomato sauce was tasty as well. I will definitely get it again! My friend got the lamb skewers. Generally, I don't eat a lot of meat; nonetheless, lamb, but it was actually pretty good. I highly recommend and I'll definitely be back for the moussaka! ”
“ We came with a reservation on the Saturday evening before a concert nearby. The restaurant is fairly small, we shared a table with another small group. The food was fine, it was OK. Nothing was amazing, but it all still tasted good. ”
“ Very nice cozy restaurant on Polk Street right by Bob's Donuts, with Mediterranean fare and good wine selections! We're met by a gentle server and ordered Mixed Meze Plate, Adana, Lamb Borchettes, and Stuffed Falafel Salad. I also had a nice BigGuy Cabernet Sauvignon. This is a lot of food! The meats were tender, the Meze plate had fresh flavors and the three of us ate everything. My daughter received a chocolate surprise dessert as a birthday gift and it was rich and delicious. Thank you, Dunya, for a pleasantly full evening! ”
“ My partner and I got takeout from Dunya Bistro over the weekend. We ordered the Mezze Platter and Keftedes, and the volume and quality of the food you get is a great deal for the price. To start, the variety of spreads that comes with the Mezze Platter are all so delicious that to pick a favorite would be to not give the others what they deserve. We especially loved dipping the pita through multiple spreads and the many combinations we were able to experience. (I could do with more baba ganoush, though). Everything on this platter is wonderful, and I felt especially drawn to the falafel, which were covered in a sauce to ensure they wouldn't dry out. If I were to criticize something about this platter as takeout, it would be the toasted pitas which were a little too overdone, and thus a little hard. Similarly, the meat of the Keftedes tasted wonderful, but I felt these skewers were also overdone by the time they got to us. Overall, everything tasted great, but like most takeout, it's probably better eaten in the restaurant itself. ”
